Going organic on the allotment

Morning all
Can I brain pick the gardeners amongst you please. I have read at various times about planting marigolds near carrots to keep the flies away & this sorts of thing and I wondered if anyone could recommend a book or website where i can read a bit more.

Thank you

    Hiya :)

You need to look for "companion planting" - that should give you plenty of tips to work with.

We've had mention of it elsewhere in Old Style so I'll see if I can find a link or two for you. I'll add them in here so watch this space :)

Here on Old Style we have:-

    Companion planting

and a well recommended site is:-

    http://allotment.org.uk/

And finally, there are a number of helpful threads in the Food section of the MEGA Index sticky at the top of Old Style listed under "Grow your own".

    HTH :)

https://www.downsizer.net is another brilliant website, sorry I don't know how to do the link. BBC's Gardener's World magazine and website are excellent, and if you go to any of the cheap bookshops you can pick up some brilliant cheap gardening books. From memory, planting onions and carrots together deter carrotfly. Good luck!
  • Thank you everyone. Thats should keep me busy for a bit!
