Be good to know how you get on Katie- can see that there are too many unfair and abusive posts, hope that has not put you of using the site- its just a shame some people can be so nasty- even if they did not agree with what they read, there is just no need- much of what has been said is put forward in an unkind and nasty tone and well, karma is all I can say to that.
Go back to the store- with police- if they still have your stuff, get the security guard a lesson in what he is entitled to, and theft is not one of them.0 -
wow some people are really abusive here I don't think anyone has right to judge thaat OP is shoplifter or not? first you not there to know exactly what happened. OP just asked what was her right about being detained. whether she is guilty is not your problem really.
For me personally, I would have to prove my innocence show them the receipt & demand written apology & compensation or time as well. I mean if you don't have a receipt go back to the stores ask for CCTV footage the time that you shopped or bank statement I don't think really you have a legal right without the proof that you are innocent first.
best of luck:Dfreebies addict (no rehab needed)

So the items you purchased form other stores had tagged security tags on them, which were not removed when purchased? Didn't these stores security alarms go off when you exited?
Also, I have sometimes had alarms go off in one shop becuase a tag has been left on in another: tesco are bad for sometimes leaving clothing tags on I find, perhaps its becuase I pay at the food tills? Its very embarrassing.0 -
let's not try to instigate more drama now...0

The OP's facts dont add up, a few times it has been mentioned she hadnt got any item "that were stolen from their store" but that just reads as though they were stolen from elsewhere.
Also, if the story was true re the BF and receipts, surely the OP would have just phoned him and asked him to come back with the receipts? If only just purchased a quick call to the other stores would have been able to confirm the till transaction.
If the OP was truly innocent she would not have signed the "banning" paperwork, would have proven the transactions and then demanded an apology.0 -

You are correct!
Judged by whom though? A certain type that’s for sure.
There are people who read, understand and respond in a way that actually answers the question of the poster.
There are also people just waiting for an opportunity to judge, accuse and interfere. (The half empty glass mob)
I know which type I advise my children to have as friends.0 -

I mentioned that they were not from their store because, in their eyes, I did not have the receipts so I was as good as guilty, however there was nothing without a receipt from THEIR store, so was it any of their business?
I wish I could have called my boyfriend, however as I have said, I was in a different city and he was already on his way home. I know that would have solved everything there and then
I signed the banning paperwork because A) they told me that was the only way I was to be released andI knew I would never have stepped foot in that place again anyway after the way I was treated. It was a small price to pay, even though by signing it may have indicated some kind of 'guilt'.
I am going to go to the CAB next week and see if they can help me.0 -
I'd call the police now if everything you say is true. How can they take things that belong to you and from another store?!?! THEY are stealing! It all seems very very odd...0

By the way my glass is usualy more than half full
OP give it up, you or your BF don't have a mobile phone either I take it? how convenient.
CAB will be powerless to help you as you have admitted guilt by signing their banning form
let's not jump to conclusions. Yes I do have a mobile phone, and so does he.Have you never heard of no battery? I'm sorry but I do not appreciate your hostility. Thanks for your productive post a few back, but as for now I do not want this thread to turn into a petty argument, thanks.0 -
I really can't understand why you signed this banning document. Surely if the police were called and you produced the receipts then the store would have to eat humble pie?
Who would admit guilt even if they had done nothing wrong - even if it meant a bit of inconvenience? Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'
