International phone calls

Just checked the usually excellent information on making international phone calls on this site and there are lots of 0844 numbers listed in the "International Callchecker", which are listed as 0.5p/min to 1p/min etc...

However, when I check the BT tariffs for calling these numbers I find that they are actually alot more expensive.

for example, Budgetcall 0844 200 4040 is quote on MSE as 0.5p/min,when infact BT charges 2.936p/min daytime, and 0.979p/min weekend.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Suggest you check again . The example you quote is g22 band, approx half a p a minute. Plus 8p connection.

When you dial a 0844/0871 access number you will be charged from the moment you are connected to the service,even if your call is not answered/connected. In view of this it is sometimes cheaper to use services that give you a indirect access code you can use on BT.

You're right, i have checked again and it is g22 rather than g17, thanks again
