Top Secret hotels - Last minute .com

I booked a two night stay in Florence using Top secret hotels on last minute .com. The hotel is the Hotel Jolly in Florence. When the hotel was revealed I looked it up and it has bad reviews on various review sites and blogs. I am worried about staying there now, anyboby had any luck getting a full refund from lastminute.com.

No. Last time I tried I think I lost the first night's money plus an admin fee. I think I got £20 back. If I didn't then I lied to my H about getting a refund so I could go to London instead of Dublin :o and Ive forgotten exactly what the truth was. Whatever it was, I definately wasn't happy about it and won't book a room through them now.

Take tripadvisor reviews with a pinch of salt. Sometimes whe you get bargain deals, other people are paying quite a lot for the same privilege and therefore the hotel may not meet the standard for what they paid.

Also, having had a squiz at tripadvisor myself, you can see there are some issues with rooms near to this 'nightclub', so I would contact the hotel directly beforehand with a quick note or simply ask when you arrive to be placed in a nice room away from the noise that you've been told about. Hotel staff tend to be very accommodating - if you are nice, they are nice! I stayed at one hotel all prepared to ask for a room on a particular side of the building only to be told they were upgrading me for free anyway :) I was a bit worried about the reviews but I couldn't fault the place - fact is, more people go on those websites to complain than do to say how nice it was.

I think a refund from lastminute depends on the hotel - the conditions should be on your booking details.

We needed to cut one night off our hotel stay due to a flight mix-up and were able to get our money back, but lastminute to a £20 administration fee. Not sure if it works for top secret hotels though.

You'll have to check your hotel policy and weigh up if it's worth cancelling.

You cannot get a full refund for cancelling a LM.com booking, as whatever the individual cancellation terms are at the particular hotel, they always charge their £20 admin fee (per booking) on top, and deduct that from any refund due.

They do put the cancellation policy for the individual hotel booked in their confirmation email.

I emailed lasyminute a few weeks ago to ask if you could cancel top secret hotels and was told no. Non-refundable. I've just booked one but I was sure which it was before I did it.

I've given up looking on Trip Advisor. Its a great site but you end up going nowhere. You'll always find someone who didn't like a particlar hotel. Very often its the food. Some people complain if they don't get roast beef and Yorkshire pud when they go abroad.

Anyone know which hotel the Budapest one is?

"The nicest Green Hotel in Budapest - 4* - Budapest"?
  • If you google the discription this one comes up

Danubius Hotel Flamenco InformationThe hotel is just minutes away from the business and shopping districts of the city, a short walk from the world famous Castl District and Mathias Church. The hotel is set in a beautiful park located on the idyllic green and hilly Buda side of the Danube. The breakfast costs 10 EUR /person.

And the distances to the city centre etc are the same?
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before
  • I booked a 'top secret hotel' in Benalmadena (Spain) through Lastminute last year, and the hotel was fine. When you book one of these deals, you have to realise that you are taking a slight risk, but on the other hand you are probably getting accommodation on the cheap. You can't have it all!
