small roof, any ideas

I need to do something with my kitchen roof. It's a slate pitched roof about 3mx4m square, due to wear and tear there is a leak, it happens to be dripping directly onto my boiler which has now stopped working (think water has got onto the PCB).

I have no money to have the roof done with felt etc, I was wondering if there is anything I can do as quick fix whilst I get the finances sorted. The boiler will be fixed by this time next week, but that still leaves the roof.

if you know where the leak is coming from then a tin of mastic cost about 20 quid.
strictly a temp measure though.
re felting wouldnt be that expensive.
a roll of felt is about 10 quid or so.

Well an interesting development.

Today I received a letter telling me I was getting £150 from Citi Bank after they messed up and have refunded some charges to me, plus £100 compensation.

So, me, my dad and our kid are going to do the roof on our own. A few of the tiles are beyond saving but that shouldnt matter and we should be able to get some to replace them.

Just priced up some new battens, felt, nails etc and £150 should cover it nicely.

It's ok,we've put a shelf up (16"deep) above the boiler so the water cannot get to it, and yes, I have left sufficient room above the boiler to the shelf, as per the manufacturers instructions 250mm. (I have no labour costs on the boiler as my dad and our kid are RGI's)
