They reckon that their customers would rather pay more for their gas/electricity when they use more - ??????

When you put it like that, obviously not! I thought ou still ended up paying the same with "scuplting", if you look at the year end cost? That other thread is refering to npower tactics previously isn't it, or are they still doing it?

I thought people only signed up to npower when they hadn't read the small print and weren't aware they have to wait a year (at best) for the discount which brings the cost down to what is showing on the switching sites? Maybe I'm stupid but I can't for the life of get my head round why someone would sign up in full knowledge of the discount being paid in this way? They can't be that much cheaper on the switching sites to justify making you wait 12 months for a discount...can they?

Heaven forbid you miss a DD payment during that 12 months (this can happen to even the most organised of ppl, or could happen due to bank error) as you would also miss out on the £105.

Edit: certainly in my (Yorkshire) reagion looks like npower have been soundly beaten by EDF's 'new' online 5 tariff.

I've opted for British Gas instead, almost identical saving, and £30 cashback too.
