just a question. it prob may sound silly. but after hours of looking on the internet me and my dad have decided to invest some money in 2 stocks. Royal Bank of Scotland and GEM Diamonds (GEMD). does a dividend come from these shares (prob not RBS). if yes when, and how does it work??

If you have not found the answer to your Q during your 'hours of looking', how on earth did you come to make your decision to invest in these?after hours of looking on the internet me and my dad have decided to invest some money in 2 stocks
There are 1000s of stocks out there. Understanding each one in full is fundamental to deciding to invest in it. I suggest you either do a whole lot more research, or stick to investing in funds where your risk is spread between multiple stocks for you.0 -

Yes it does.

None - it favours growth over dividends.

those two are companies to speculate in but not strictly to invest in. There are much better prospects out there0

If you didn't know that RBS weren't paying dividends and didn't know where to look I would say you aren't ready to invest just yet.
I have only started in May this year and there is a lot of learn I have made some mistakes but I am beginning to understand.
I reccomend you read Robbie Burns "The Naked Trader" before investing and play with a virtual 10k before investing any real money just yet.0 -
