well, do i have to give ex-landlords a forwarding address, when they have been bullying and harassing family? There are stories about how they can harass employers, so what are the alternatives? I do not trust them.
Thanks for any knowledge on this

By your own admission you owe them two months rent. They'll obviously want that repaid and it's rather hard to arrange to do that formally unless they can actually write to you. Both you and your LL will want to have a record of formal communication and by withholding your postal address you are giving them no avenue to contact you and resolve the issue.
Consider, if you had given them a forwarding address when you moved out, they'd not have needed to contact your parents at all“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

I don't believe there is a legal obligation for a debtor to give their residential address to a creditor in the same way that I don't believe there is a law that prevents a creditor from asking others for the debtors address.
The landlords may soon tire of doing the legwork themselves and pay a people tracking service a small fee to find you.

So true its worth repeating.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. I don't know whether you legally have to or not, but of course you should. You can't just up and run, there are outstanding bills and deposits to sort out (and in your case, missing rent). Plus normally you would need a reference from them, although obviously you shot yourself in the foot there.
Basically, yes. I can't see why anyone wouldn't unless they were running away from debts they couldn't pay, which is not something I have experience with!0 -

Look you've made it clear on multiple threads that you don't care about your parents welfare and the price you'd put on it is trying to avoid paying a small debt that you owe. You could sort this all out giving them your details and taking repsonsibility for the money you owe rather than hiding.
You don't want to take responsibility, you don't care about your parents welfare, you value a 'free' couple of months rent above your parents welfare (aren't you embarassed????).
If you don't care about your parents or sorting this out like a grown-up in a professional fashion why on earth expect other people to waste time or effort - you clearly can't. You'd have paid the blinking debt off if you'd been earning minimum wage in the time you've been posting multiple, repeating dull threads asking the same questions.0
