Barclays e-savings reward account Cashcard

I have just logged into Barclays internet banking and I can now apply for a 'Cashcard' on my e-savings reward account, it says I will receive a card and PIN in a few days, but what type of card is it ?, as I am sure it said it can be used to withdraw £300 per day from 'Barclays' cash machines, so no mention of anyone elses machines ?, and would it be a debit card as well ?.

Thanks.

It's not a debit card, it's a plain old savings cash card. Unless things have changed radically, the savings cash card really is Barclays ATMs only.
    What would William Shatner do?
  • Savings Cash Cards are going to have a chip in them soon, so they can be used in Chip & Pin branches - you still won't be able to use them in the shops though.

This account is anything but a best buy:
    • Only pays 1.26%
    • This includes a bonus of 0.75%
    • The rate dives to a paltry 0.85% if you withdraw
    • The bonus disappears after a year
    • The so so called 'guarantee' means that after a year the interest rate could be as low as 0.01%
    • Instant access via Barclays machines
    • Chief Executive earns about £2m per year
On the other hand there is the internet saver from the Yorkshire Building Society:
    • Pays 2.10%
    • This is a 'clean' rate: no short term bonus
    • This account has consistently been amongst the best buys for a number of years
    • Access via LINK machines, including Barclays. Money can also be transferred online to more than one external account.
    • Chief Executive earns about £600,000 per year

    No comparison!!:D

The YBS account is cracking- and my Link card was turned around in about 1 working day- most rapid of any bank.

The advantage holding a Barclays e-saver has is that it allows you to apply for a Regular Saver online without having to go into a branch or hold a current account.
