.avi to DVD

Is there a quicker way of transcoding and copying an .avi file to dvd than by using Nero 7? It currently takes over four hours to do so now!

.avi to .vob (dvd) in 25 minutes here

and same again only slower at 1h 30 minutes here

...or just burn to vcd...takes 20 mins if that per hour of material (using CD Nero)

i use winavi which converts it to dvd in 30mins

i also us winavi and alcohol120. both very powerfull burning proggys. less than 30 mins
