Hi Guys my father has just been duped by a holiday scam and paid via his VISA-DEBT card, can anyone tell me if he is covered by insurance or not, I told him not because as it was a debt transaction (the funds have gone from his account) and insurance only comes into play if paid via a credit card???

Yup, you're right, section 75 protection won't apply.
He can still register a dispute with his bank on the transaction on grounds of fraud."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
the only thing you can ask for is bank to do a charge back0
