Cleaning stipple artex

Our kitchen ceiling is stipple artexed (previous tenants) and is in need of a clean prior to repainting.Can anyone recommend a method and a cleaner for this purpose please.Up to now we have torn several sponges,cloths and mops without much success.

    You need to but some special paint which seals the ceiling. Then just paint on top.
