Reclaiming Bank Charges from old settled accounts.

I have recently settled an account that was overdrawn due to charges, the account had to be settled promptly to avoid a default notice. I am wondering if anyone knows whether I can still claim bank charges back despite me not holding the account with them anymore? I have only had the account for 3 years so it is within the 6 year time frame. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am preparing to settle another debt which I may not do so quickly if I am unable to claim charges back.

If you have settled it for less than is owed then the bank have the right to offset any bank charges against the debt outstanding. Hope that makes sense?BrettWilson wrote: »I have recently settled an account that was overdrawn due to charges, the account had to be settled promptly to avoid a default notice. The account was not settled for a reduced amount i paid the value of the overdraft and a few hundered in charges on top of that, so should I still be able to claim back those charges?

Financial hardship claims have a criteria for success but anyone can claim bank charges back. I apologise if my advice wasn't clear enough with that regards and I will take a mental note for future posts.Im confused...???
