Hi
I don't know if it helps but my brother asked Northern Rock, who he had his mortgage and a loan with (Together Mortgage) and they agreed to be concurring creditor in his bankruptcy earlier this year. He used an Insolvency Practitioner who later became his Trustee and they did all the leg work in terms of contacting them. I know that they first approached Northern Rock by phone and then were told to put the details in writing. They agreed pretty quickly and the whole process was completed within a few weeks. He remains in his house and pays his mortgage but the unsecured element was included in his bankruptcy. If I can help with anything else let me know and I can ask him for you.

Thanks Lou!
But i don't have a mortgage, all unsecured debts and the banks all know they are unlikely to get anything from me if they concur so think i may be in it for the long haul
Thanks anyway!

Oh that is a shame, I can understand how frustrating it must be. The Scottish system does have a lot of benefits but making you wait for a charge for payment is not one of them! Fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long. Hope all goes well.

Hi MBDF,
I'm from Aberdeen too - I'm sure the weather is making you even more depressed today!
One thing to consider is that if you do go BR then this may impact on your tenancy. It might be better to get into rented accomodation first, and look out for any clauses in the lease about BR.
Is BR really your only option? Have you actually sought any advice from Citizens Advice etc? 32K is a lot, but there are also things like Debt Relief Orders now I believe.0 -

Hi Thanks for your response
I am in local authority housing and i have no debt to them so i will be ok there. I have spoken to CAB, NDL and CCCS and all of them come to the same conclusion. The disposable income i have would take something like 22 years to pay off.
Yeah the weather here isn't great today, so much for July! No way of getting home at the moment they closing roads left right and centre! :mad:In for a penny in for a pound :j0
