    No recipes as such.

For the sweet potato and coconut curry basically I fry some onion, and then pour in some coconut milk, and some veg boullion, as in some chopped sweet potato and pour in some lentils and then add a tbsp of thai curry paste although you could use powder or indian paste, and cook untill soft, sometimes I add carrots as well. At the end i tend to add some peas for colour and I serve with Nann or rice or both, its really tasty.

For the patties, I cook the lentils then mix with mashed potato, cheese and corriander and then cover in breadcrumbs and fry.

Just found this recipe in my husbands, great grandmothers wartime cookery book.
    CHEESE RICE
    1 pint water
    1\2 pint milk
    4 oz grated cheese
    4 0z rice
    salt and pepper
    1. wash the rice and put into pan with 1 pint of boiling water , cook till this is all absorbed.
    2. add the milk the seasoning and most of the cheese.
3 pour into a greased dish, put remainder of cheese on top and bake in the oven till brown on top , about 20 mins
the front page of book says this booklet has been compiled to meet the needs of the north country housewifes, who, in time of war , are called upon to provide balanced meals for their families from restricted foodstuffs and out of only small means

Slow cookers are great for batch cooking. As previous poster gave recipe for shepherds pie, bolognaise, this can also be adapted for chili, savoury mince for baked potatoes etc. Brown mince and put in slow cooker, add chopped onion, carrot and any other finely chopped veg. Cook in a little water and stock cubes for a couple of hours or more and then split into portions. Add tomatoes, tomato puree etc for bolognaise plus kidney beans and chilli powder for chilli. Worcester sauce and tomato ketchup for shepherds pie and savour mince. Then freeze. Lots of ready meals for when you can't be bothered to cook.

I definitely think I'm going to invest in a slow cooker! It sounds great for batch cooking and lovely, homely meals :)
