i am trying to watch movies on my television played on my laptop. i have managed to connect the computer to the set via a svid to scart converter i have borrowed. the picture on the screen is very poor and has almost no colour. am i doing something obvious wrong or is this not possible with my tv? (matsui 28inch widescreen about 5 years old)
hope someone can help as other half cannot stand watching on the computer!
thanks T.

sounds to me as though it is running in NTSC mode for the tv. as it is a UK Tv, you need to change the display to pal. - also se the resolution to around 1024*768 50 hz. look for pal in display settings> settings tab> advanced button. This is not an automated signature. I write this at the bottom of every message0

Did you select the correct AV channel to display SVIDEO?0 -
ok i will try and answer as best as i can!
using a dell latitude d505. i can see the picture on the screen but it is black and white and the text is quite unclear. i have set the resolution to 1024 x 768 to get to this. also on PAL_B loads of PAL and NTSC to choose from, none have worked. also colour at 32 Bit. i think that is it so far!0 -
it is probably because your TV doesn't support svideo, hence the b&w picture.. you may need an s-video to composite adapter.
