Sold van, buyer didn't complete, how to reclaim FVF

Hiya
I ‘sold’ my van on Sunday, the auction stated collection within 3/4 days, the winning bidder turned up within the hour and everything was great. Except when he tried to drive away with the van on the back, his A frame broke, he said there’s no other way he could transport the van and to second chance it. I did so, but it hasn’t been taken up and has now expired.
My question is how do I go about reclaiming my listing cost (don’t think I can reclaim this, not according to the 'official ebay forums'?) and FVF, which are £36, and when am I able to start the process? I didn’t want to go down the route of NPB strikes and all that, but have been told to reclaim my FVF i have to issue a strike, isn't there such a thing as a 'mutual' cancellation where i get my fees and the buyer doesn't get a strike? Accidents happen, always to me unfortunately but they do happen
Thanks in advance for any advice, i tried the ebay forums but got a pretty unhelpful reply of 'well thats how ebay works', 'you cant expect payment in a couple of days' (which i already understand completely, but people bidded knowing the terms and the guy clearly understood them) etc etc, regardless of the fact i had the money in my hand that very same night, no advice of how to start the process, what happens etc, which is what i wanted to know, but i daren't post again in case i get the last bit of my head bitten off

The community boards are not for the faint hearted!
If you don't want to do a full NPB then your only other option is to risk a mutual, you cna open that immediately and then the seller gets the option to say he does not want to proceed. If buyer chooses that option, andn ot one of the others he is offered, then your FVFs are returned to you.
If however he chooses one of the other options then that it is , you can do nothing else to reclaim your FVFs.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As I understand it, no matter whether you go with a mutual or npb claim, you won't get your listing fees back, only your fvf.
If you relist the item and it sells the second time, then you'll get those insertion fees credited. (assuming you get a mutual or npb granted)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
hello everyone, sorry for the late reply, not been online

Just wanted to let you know that the matter is now resolved, the buyer agreed to a mutual cancellation and the fees have been returned by ebay, yay! No relisting fee refund, but i expected that anyway
unfortunately i didn't use a posting id, it didn't enter my head, won't be going back though so just hope people aren't bored enough to auction wreck or hunt me down on ebay!
Thankyou all for your great advice and the link, your help was invaluable. I will certainly come here in future for advice instead of the ebay boards, you guys are so much friendlier and give better, clearer advice without the sarcastic undertones from some responders which intimidate posters on the 'real' ebay boards
thanks so much one again
