My laptop is going back to Packard Bell next week for repairs and they have told me they cannot guarantee safety of data so i need to back up. Trouble is, I cannot find my disc for my bluetooth adaptor and need to know how to save the installation file to disc so i can load it back on if they do a factory restore - I can forward my mails I need to my other pc which has a seperate email address on, but I just don't know how to save downloads/applications. Can anyone advise please - thanks.

You could put what you need onto a dongle or try this web site, I think everything is backed up to use at a later date.

It will depend what you have on the laptop...if its just documents, etc then you maybe able to get away with just putting data onto a floppy disc. If it's documents, pictures, then you maybe able to get the data onto a USB memory drive (128mb - 2gb) which can be purchased quite cheaply.
Another option is to search google for sites which do online drives for storing data, some do this free others charge after a few weeks. If I remember correctly lycos do a storage facilitity if you have an email address with them of 100mb which you could just uplaod your data to and then download it when you get the laptop back...just remember, backing up online isn't really a good option if you have dial up
In relation to the bluetooth dongle, just do a driver search on google on the name of itWelcome, rogerramjet.

dongle or cd is fine for most things - the bluetooth adapter presents a problem, there will be a file (or several) but there will also be links and settings in the registry - you cannot easily back these up. You need the installer program - however as mentioned the manufacturers web site should provide themTANSTAAFL !0
