EDF Economy 7 night rate advertised at discount

EDF (along with other suppliers) publish their tariffs on :
their website at edfenergy.com
on page : /products-services/for-your-home/documents/edf-standard-tariffs-25-07.pdf
(this has to be this way because this forum doesn't allow links)
They advertise their Economy 7 night rate at 4.86p per unit
Yet they charge as much as 6.49p per unit
The Office of Fair Trading say this may be a breach of :
(Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008)
(Competition Act 1988)
Check the above website, save a copy, and if you've been charged more than 4.86p per unit then ask them for your rebate
You can contact EDF at enquiries@edfenergy.com

Electricity rates vary across the country but nowhere in the link is economy 7 at 6.49p as far as I can see.
Are you sure that the 6.49p/kWh is not for their Economy 10 tariff?0 -
Hello
We've been charged 6.49p, and it is certainly Economy 7
The OFT have registered the matter formally
The question is, how many other people have been charged more than advertised
Perhaps responses to this post will reveal that0 -
Those are the new reduced prices.
You don't say what area you are in, the tariff you are on or incl VAT or excl VAT
The 'Green' tariff and Climate balance tariffs are all around 6p.
Even their cheapest tariff with VAT can be over 6p0 -
Hello
Their published tariffs don't include Vat, other tariffs or levies, or mention area variations
Nor does the other rate which has been charged include them0 -

The ones in the link Cardew posted show both including and excluding VAT and clearly show regional differences
Since you've quoted 4.86p I presume you must live in either the Midlands or Seeboard region?
You didn't state where you got your figure of 6.49p from, is it off your latest bill as there have been some price decreases recently which might not be reflected on whatever you're getting your figures from.
It also seems strange that the OFT are looking in to it as surely this is more of a job for Ofgem, energy ombudsman, consumer focus etc.0 -

The link I posted above in post #2 is exactly the one you gave. Just click the blue print and it will take you to their tariffs:
It shows prices with and without VAT
All the regional variations for electricity.
All of the various electricity tariffs.0 -

 :rotfl:
(Behave myself. Be good to newbies.)
Where exactly are you seeing this published?0 -
Oh dear, what silly old fools we are !
Of course there are area differences, in the sense of different companies rather than different locales within them which we took as implied by a response from EDF's enquiries desk
And yes, you're right it is what is is still called SEEBOARD
The webpage list referred to is entitled as not including Vat
It does contain references to price changes with time, and alternative arrangements for Green tariifs etc
And there are conditions regarding break points at 1000KwH usage too
But the Economy 7 night rate is clearly listed as 4.86p per unit and they have invoiced at 6.49p per unit
Perhaps it's just changed, perhaps it's an old list ?0 -
Its not the ECO20:20 tariff is it?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!
