Why do cc transactions have an extra charge when paying for airline tickets some councils and other things when I thought that people paying on credit under the consumer credit act should not be disadvantaged from those paying cash? or is that not so , does anybody know the latest rules?

I don't think that any such rules exist under the Consumer Credit Act.

The bottom line is that it costs the retailer more to process Credit Card transactions than taking cash or Debit Cards. Therefore for larger items such as holidays, cars etc the retailer adds a surcharge to the price to cover these costs.

Remember you can make a payment for as little as £1 on the Credit Card and the rest by other means yet you will still benefit from Section 75 protection on the entire purchase provided the total cost is between £100 and £30000.
