Peugeot Help needed

Hi, hope this is the right place for this. I bought a new Peugeout 207cc last March as a reward to myself for getting promotion.

In the last year it has had to have 4 new tyres and new brake pads. Yesterday an odd light came in and I phoned the dealer who sounded rather concerned and told me to take it to the garage ASAP. I later received a call to tell me I needed a new catalytic converter (?). It is under warranty, but still - is this normal for such a new car?

I have very little car experience, and just want to know whether this is unusual and whether I should do anything about it?

Please help:o

It's normal for any car to have a failure like this as they don't build them like they used to! If it's under warranty then there is nothing to worry about.

Make sure you don't have a leaky roof tho!

Hi, I too have a 207cc and it has been back to the dealer many times; the main problems have been that the roof leaked when we first got it which took a few visits to sort; there is a loud rattling noise when the roof is in the 'up' position coming from the boot - this is still not sorted despite the dealer doing his utmost and recently the roof stuck in the down position. I've done 14000 miles and the tyres will need to be replaced very soon.

The rattle is a "known problem" with the 207cc - if it's known, why can't Peugeot find a cure for it.

The dealer has been very good, trying very hard to correct the faults and always giving me a courtesy car full of petrol etc. Peugeot themselves are hopeless - even though the car spent most of last summer at the dealer trying to get the problems sorted, Peugeot will not even consider extending the warranty, which just shows how much confidence they have in the model.

The warranty runs out in September 2010 - I fully intend to get rid of the car before then as I am not confident that I won't have expensive corrections to do once the warranty has expired.

I have never had a Peugeot before in 30 odd years of driving and I'd certainly never have one again.

I have an MG ZS. The original tyres lasted around 27K for the rear and 20K for the front.

I bought an RAC Gold Warranty. When the car failed recently and the ECU was suspected guess what - it would not have been covered because it may have bneen a wiring fault (chafed cables) that caused the fault.

Fortunately, with the help of Google the repair went from £1,000 to less than £200.

Thanks for the advice, cornerstone13, your problems make mine sound minor! Have no problems with roof at all (touch wood)! Done about 22,000 miles.

The garage phoned me today to say the car would be another 24 hours - wnated to scream and after much nagging, they eventually gave me a brand new car off the forecourt for 24 hours! Thinking they just wanted to shut me up!
