Credit Score Problems. . .

Wonder if anyone could offer any quick advice . . .recently accidentally made mistake in address on a mobile phone application webpage which got flagged up. On chatting with the sales rep, their finance company asked for extra evidence of my current address. Card details were typed in incorrectly by the rep (found this out afterwards!), meaning the finance company couldnt verify the card, alerting my bank to this activity and causing my card to be stopped. Quick call from the bank resolved this the next day and got mobile company to re-verify the card which they did. To process the order they then went through the whole booking process again, requiring yet another credit check on my account. Will this impact negatively on future credit scores and do I have any right to go hunting for this to be rectified on my file by the finance people of the company who performed the repeated credit check?? Many thanks in advance for any help!!

If the mobile phone company has conducted 2 different credit check (I would suggest you check first with experian/equifax), then you can ask them to remove one of them, but they don't have to do so, you gave them the wrong information in the first place and could come up as fraud on your file. Otherwise if you have 2 search on your file, in a few months time it will not make any difference

    Don't panic.

2 searches in themselves won't make any significant difference to your credit score. They'll be gone from your credit report in 12 months time.

If you're really concerned, check your credit reports to see how they look - but don't waste money on their "credit score" nonsense.

This can be a tricky one, I had a similar experience with a mobile contract. The first credit check was performed which I passed and was then presented with the paper contract. After reading it, unfortunately, one of the terms were not as the advisor described and I decided not to progress with that deal.

I then went with another network and of course had another credit check. I decided it was too much hassle to get the original search removed as the advisor in the shop made the error, but the credit check is carried out by the network. Of course neither were keen to take responsibility.

The searches will drop off your credit report and if these are your only two searches in the last few months, it shouldn't matter. If you have other recent searches and apply for credit, some lenders may view this negatively, as it could appear you are 'desperate' for credit.
