How does NPower compare with its competitors?
We are looking to switch our gas/electricity suppliers soon and go onto a direct debit scheme (realising this is the way forward when it comes to saving money on our bills).
I've been through numerous online comparison sites (moneysupermarket, USwitch, etc, etc) and they all come up with different things.
We're what would be classed as "medium usage" household and get both our gas and electricity from NPower. Ideally we'd like to keep it so that we get both gas and electricity through the same company (easier to work out the bills that way!)
We had a chap at the door the other week from Scottish Power who assured us they'd do us a better deal but I never sign up to anything at the front door like that. Since hitting the comparison websites, Scottish Power hasn't been anywhere near the top of the lists.
E-on and EDF appear to be coming up trumps for us but not sure which deal to go with??
Anyone got any hints/tips? I was hoping all the comparison websites would come up with just one and then it'd be a nice and easy way to just think to ourselves they were obviously the best/cheapest to go with but alas they all say different companies!! :rotfl:

Best to work with Kwh instead of putting in DD amounts, if you say you are a medium household try the national average of 20500kwh of gas and 3300 of electricity as a start.
By putting in Kwh all of the comparison sites *should* come up with the same resultsMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

No probs, the other thing is to make sure you read all the tariff information, some of the tariffs come with exit fees if you want to leave early.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

If you have been in your property for more than 12 months with the same supplier you could go through your last 4 bills and get your exact usage (far more accurate) if you havent got your bills then phone your supplier, they should be able to give you that info, they will know why you are asking for it though so be prepared for "we could offer you this.." or something along those lines, just get the info and put it into a comparison site (or a few) and see what comes up.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

I'd go as far as having a couple of comparison sites open ready to put in your usage info while speaking to them, then when they make you an offer you can say, "well I can see on nvbfhkk.com that I can get this at £.**.00pm"
