Decathlon, great service

After the appalling experience with Halfords (three replacement bikes all having the same fault), I bought one from Decathlon and have been really impressed with it.
I've noticed that the front gear mechanism had fallen slightly out of alignment (they said all new bikes need a bit of a settling-in period so they ask you to fetch them in for to get things re-tightened).
I was passing today and popped in on the off chance they could sort it out there and then. Hadn't called ahead, and didn't have any receiprs of warranty, so I expected to be told to book it in for later in the week, but the bloke did it there and then. No fuss, no faffing, actually seemed pleased to be able to help and was really nice bloke.
Aint it sad when that type of service comes as a shock to you...

Yes you're right. I posted about poor service on another thread earlier. Decathlon are a French company I don't know if that makes any difference to their company work ethic.
They do great cheap fleeces too!0 -
Great store, bought a lot of stuff there over time - just remember to wear shin pads if you go as I was nearly mown down by a kid hurtling down the aisles on one of their display model scooters!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

I would like to join the chorus in praise of Decathlon. It is so nice to be able to praise a company for once, doesn't happen to me very often these days!
Ordered my bike on the internet Monday, came ready to ride today Wednesday morning in central London.
The bike is also exactly what I wanted and couldn't find anywhere else.
I commute to work and use my bike for grocery shopping, so I wanted lots of storage (basket front and shelf back), all the essentials included (i.e. dynamo lights and mudguards) and a simple sturdy construction. I chose one with no gears as my ride is flat and gears only mean more repairs!
The only thing I would have liked on top are the "backpedalling" brakes instead of the usual ones, as again the former never need any maintenance.
But I am so so pleased with it! and it only costs £130 !
They even put an extra set of battery lights, which I will pass on to my son.0 -
When I lived in France I found Decathlon to be a very good shop for all things sport. They do seem to have a wide range of sporting interests catered for and aren't trying to be a fashion retailer (JJB,JD etc.) or double as a garage (Halfords).
Not been in one in the UK but good to hear the views above.0
