Hi, need some help if poss! Have black screen windows error recovery on Vista Home premium, says repair or start windows normally, wont start normally and repair takes me to blue screen showing....
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Tech info: STOP 0x00000050 (then a further 4 parameters)
From this page am unable to do anything except pull the plug!
I have googled the error code which takes me to Microsoft support, this suggests a 'hotfix' but with loads of warnings saying that it will cause harm to computer etc and that it can only be used to fix a specific problem, however, its all a bit vague and says it the system should be backed up before installing, how can I back it up when I cant get onto anything.....?
It does refer to SP1 which I have been unable to install ever since it came out, however, other IT people have advised that it could be a Memory error with my PC??
I have managed to get into a test area from 'Symptom Tree', I selected 'unable to start OS' this done a 5 hour test and came up with no errors!!!!
I dont want to start fiddling with things and end up making a problem worse (if thats possible!)
The above might be a bit vague but if you need any further info I'm sure I can supply it.
Thanks everso much!
PS am using sons pc at mo if you were wondering!

Are you able to boot into safe mode? If you can try to select a previous restore point.
Also this may be worth a look.0 -
