i'll try and keep this short and sweet.
for many years ive had my head stuck in the sand...... i owe £9600 on the barclaycard/goldfish account. ive only been able to just about pay the minimum amount.. £200 per month approx £130 interest and £70 payment protection.
due to recent developments with work..... i changed jobs in Feb for what i thought would be a bettter job, but now im worse off. i can no longer afford to pay the minimum payment and i dont know what to do....... i feel really ashamed to ring them and also scared in case they are not able to help me.
has anyone got anything which may make me feel more positvie?

You are best asking for their help while they still can, dont go into the sand so to speak. If you ask for help they will work with you. They will freeze your card though.0

Do you really need the payment protection? in my own opinion it is a waste of money.0

can i just cancel that?0
-
Yes you can0

so that would be £70 per month better off then............
is it best to ring them or comunicate by letter, so that everything is in black and white.
freezing the card is no problem as its been maxed for over 4 years and ive just stuck my head in the ground paying the minimum.
any ideas what they may suggest?
im really embaressed about my situation.0 -
You should be able to do it over the phone to cancel the payment protection but you may need to confirm it in writing to be on the safe side (ideally send it by recorded delivery).
Regarding speaking to them concerning your payments, you need to speak to them and explain your situation, they may show some flexibility for a while, each provider is different. They will probably want to see your income and out going to see what you can afford.0 -
It is always best to ring and then follow it up with a letter sent by recorded delivery. You can cancel PPI any time you want.I would definitely cancel PPI.Do you think you might be accepted for a zero percent balance transfer or a low rate life of balance transfer?
Please do not leave it till it is too late.Make your lender aware of the situation. You can contact CAB and the National Debt line for advice.0 -
idealy i would like them to freeze all the charges on what i owe.... then i think to begin with i could manage £75-£80 per month, and if the charges were frozen it would come off what i actualy owe.
but until i pluck up the courage, i wont know.
feel better for discussing it.:j0 -
call them and see how you get on, if they don't want to help you then I suggest you seek advise from either CCCS, PAYPLAN or CAB. Keep paying you credit card whatever you can pay even if it does not meet the minimum payment but NEVER miss a payment. Do you have other credits than your credit card?0
