How much do i get charged for selling DVDs on Amazon?

Hi.
Basically i know i would get paid £1.21 of which 16p is deducted, and then 17.5% of sale price is also deducted. Is there any other fee, similar to the 86p fee you pay for books.
I'm just wondering because ive seen some dvds being sold for 1p each. That means that 1.21 - 0.16 - 0.86 = literally nothing. Plus you also have postage costs to cover.
Thanks in advance

I'm a pro seller so I get more than a non pro, but i don't know how much for a DVD.
If I list a DVD for £1 I get the following breakdown:
Your price: £1.00 Quantity: 1 Seller SKU: x Your shipping methods Domestic Only Amazon.co.uk's Fees (if sold) £0.29 for Domestic Only * Postage charge to buyer on your behalf (if sold): £1.21 for Domestic Only * VAT on Amazon.co.uk's fees £0.04 for Domestic Only * Total you will receive (if sold) £1.88 for Domestic Only
You can check your own as a non pro as you get a breakdown like that before you hit confirm to list.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Does that breakdown include absolutely everything other than postage fees? IE. 17.5% reduction, 16p administration cost, 86p listing etc.
So:
Total figure they give you - postage fees = Total profit
Is that correct? or are there more things to be subtracted?
If so what i dont understand is how do some ppl sell DVDs for 1p.
They receive 1+1.21. Subtract the 86p listing fee, subtract the 16p administration fee = 20p
Then posting the DVD using 2nd class Royal Mail costs 76p, so they are losing 56p per transaction? Is that right or did i get something wrong?MSE allowed me to see the light0 -
My breakdown is as a pro seller, a non pro will have more charges applied but I don't know how much as Amazon search is about as useless as the ebay one.
Many people list at a 1p, firstly new sellers may not notice the final breakdown when they list and believe , erroneously that if others can sell for a 1p then so can they. Larger sellers can maybe shave a lot from their postage due to contracts with RM and coouriers, but again that is something I am not fully sure about as I am not a large enough seller for any such vlume discounts.
I sell mainly all books and notice a lot of newly launched sellers matching the 1p charged by the bigger sellers yet they don't stand a chance of avoiding huge losses if they do sell.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. yea, avoid the trap of just assuming you can sell at these low prices you see on Amazon, there can be any number of reason why a seller is selling dvd’s at 1p, most often new sellers will invest in a batch of cheap new or used dvd's and sell them off really cheaply, at a loss if necessary to build up feedback which gives better buyer confidence.
sometimes they are just selling off stock they can't shift again at a loss if necessary so they can write it off against tax instead of paying out more money to store stock that isn't shifting.
And postage discounts in the micro margin world of online and Amazon selling can be a big decider in who offers the cheapest price, if you move volumes you can get a discount from royal mail and some sellers do sell at break even and just make money off the postage discount they get, it's cut throat, be sure you know exactly what it costs you to buy, package and post an item so that you can judge your profits accurately and set your sale prices accordingly, as soolin says Amazon give you a breakdown of exactly what you will receive after fees for every sale right before you confirm the listing but it is pointless knowing that if you don’t have a figure to deduct from it, pre calculated to enable you to work out what your profit will be, if any.0 -

Thanks alot for replies! This basically means selling DVD's is hopeless on amazon. Most of the DVD's im selling are being sold for under 25p, if not even 1p, but to make £1 per DVD which i would like, my price would have to be at about £1.20.
*Sigh* In to the car boot box they go.MSE allowed me to see the light0
