I know this is a bit of a long shot but here goes.....
I have a hp2355 psc - all in one printerscanner photocopier. Ink ran out a few weeks ago, just replaced it today. However, the machine will not recognise that I have changed the ink - ie is still telling me that I have used cartridges installed. So no printing possible, and wont even do self reporting tests, cartridge alighnment. Also, when printer is switched on, a very quick message flashes up - "No mech mode" - which was never there before.
Of course, it is now out of warranty by about a month.
I am so annoyed as OH has just gone and spend a fortune on replacement ink cartridges - that have now been opened, so cant be returned.
So if anyone out there can help I will be eternally grateful.

have you installed original hp carts or refilled?
Check the contacts are clean just give them a wipe with kitchen roll both the printer and the cart.
if they are original contact hp they could be faulty and they will replace them if they are refills return them to who you bought them from as they dont work maybe the chips are faulty or they forgot to do somthing?
yes the printer could have failed especially if they are original hp carts but if you return them to HP they should replace them with new carts which you can sell on ebay easily and help fund a new printer.
This is a common problem I experiance when using refilled/compatable carts so I always buy geniune HP.0 -
thanks - they are new genuine hp cartridges - so at least I know we can get our money back on that. I have had a go at cleaning all the contacts earlier but will try again later.
We also bought the printer from costco, and I think costco will give you your money back even when out of warranty (but not sure about this - but nothing ventured). Even if they dont I may try taking up with trading standards as 1 year for a printer is not on (this is the first time we have changed cartridges). WHy oh why do these things always happen when we are particularly short of money - and need to print stuff to help increase our income. At least new printer can go down as business expense I suppose.0 -

another thing regarding the warrenty have you actually tried to contact HP? I have a few times and their warrenties usually have 14 months when you check the warrenty status on their web page0

thanks - yes I have gone through everything that could possibly apply - I would imagine its the contacts on the printer cartridge or the contacts they connect to where the problem is. I have cleaned as per instructions on website - but to no avail.0 -
It might not help, but just in case make sure that you have deleted any pending documents from your pc, and unplug the printer so that the power is completely off and leave it that way for a fair while (all day or overnight).0

You really should try ringing HP up. You should have a number in the manual. I found HP customer service to be brilliant. Also there is a recent thread on here where they replaced someones printer out of warranty. Give them a go. But remember to be nice to them, it works wonders.0
