All sorts indeed...0 -
Im kinda with Zolablue on this, the contract agreement works both ways and I really don't see why the OP is entitled to compensation. I can understand his frustration though and if I was in a similar situation I'd certainly be speaking to Virgin.
The shop situation is different, if I bought a suit and saw it cheaper by as much as £40 I'd take it back, but then again Im legally entitled to do so. If he can refund his flight then he should do so as I've suggested, otherwise he agreed to a no refund flight (which is often cheaper) and therefore has to live with the consequences of that.
He certainly isn't owed anything though but anyone who's saying they wouldn't refund the tickets if they could is a liar. £600 is a lot of money to anyone, in fact they could have another holiday off of that.0 -

We're actually agreeing on the key point, but it's worth noting that you can only take a suit back a get a refund legally if there is something wrong with it. Not if it's now cheaper, or you don't like it!
Although most shops let you take something back or exchange within a time frame, they don't have to by law!
But yes, back to the old addage, don't go back and check. For every person whoose flight / holiday goes down there are 20 whose price goes up!0 -
The same thing has happened to me on a couple of occasions; booked two miles and money flights only for a sale to start the next day.
Not only were the flights cheaper but I'd also used 50,000 of my miles.
I didn't even try to do anything about it. It's just one of those things.
Now I just wait for their email newsletters to arrive and book my tickets as soon as I see them.
Just booked a great 2 for 1 offer with BA. Of course I can't change my flights but I've saved 2,000 pounds.Debt Free and Happy. Enjoy Every Minute of Every Day.0
