My favourite is to cook a whole chicken, just a splash of water in the bottom & add chicken. Job done. I leave mine on low for 10hrs as that's the time I'm out for & it's delicious with great stock to use / freeze for the next time I use the slow cooker.
There are great threads to read through for other ideas such as 'baked' potatoes or rice pudding.
Here's a few sites to wet your appetite.

Thanks for those, I'll check them out. Been having a look at Argos and you can get these SC pretty cheap so might have a go. Cheers.0 -

I would totally encourage you to get one. I got mine in Argos, its a Morphy Richrds and it was @ £20. When I bought it I wondered if it would end up in a cupboard with the other "redundant" gadgets! But no! I use it 2-3 times a week and its brilliant and the food tastes great! Plus when you're working, its so great to chuck everything in in the morning and come home to a lovely home made meal. Makes you feel like a domestic godess- lol!!

We recently found this forum a couple of weeks ago and have since spent ages going through loads of different threads.
It wasn't until then that we realised just how wasteful we are with food. We are two adults and spend £300-£350 a month on shopping  and although this does include all toiletries/cleaning products etc, it is still quite a lot of money.
We are slowly getting better and have started to use leftovers, cheaper cuts etc but it is very hard particularly after years of just wondering into a supermarket and filling the trolley without a thought. any tips on how to make the whole transition easier?0 -
make lists, check your cupboards and freezers and meal plan and make a list for the shop's of only what you need to finish the meals,
take advantage of some offers but only if it is sthg you use and the price per kilo/packet isn't more than the one thats not on offer
and keep coming back here and chatting to us allNonny mouse and Proud!!
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!!
