Can we ask for carpets to be removed as we don't want the expense of having to pay for their removal and associated skip costs etc?

This may not be possible just want to get clarification

I think I can answer this from experience as I was left with a disgusting grease encrusted old cooker & other junk & stuff that I'd expressly asked to be removed before completion.

Although my solicitor wrote to the vendor's, via their solicitor to seek payment towards the cost of disconnection of cooker & removal of items,it brought no joy. When I discussed possibility of pursuing the matter via the court system I was told by my solicitor it was possible but not really advisable as vendors may still ignore the matter & I'd still be left with their old junk cluttering up my house that needed to be refurbished.

Instead I thought of spending the money I might of spent on court/legal costs on a voodoo doll to send bad will/vibes to vendors :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I had to take up all carpeting in my house & local council charged £12 to take it away, so something for you to check out.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

It won't cost anything to remove carpets, you don't need a skip.

Unless this house is huge, just do it yourself if they won't.

You can ask them to remove the carpets but they may be in no better position to do so than you are. In the end of it is a matter of negotiation. Old cookers are more of a pain because they are heavy!

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

It's quite hard to get rid of the carpets because you really have to wait until the house is empty before you can get them up. Which is a big pain when as soon as the house is empty you want to be off and on your way. Taking the carpets up beforehand could be a trip hazard for the removal process.

In terms of practicality it will be easier for you to removed carpet from the house when it's empty. Cut it into manageable chunks with a stanley kinfe and get it in the back of the car and off to the tip. If I can do it, you can!
