Short Break In Chester

OH and I (just us ;) ) are having a short break in Chester in May, does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay within the city itself please? (We are travelling by train) Also what are the touristy things we must not miss?? And finally, are there any places/areas to avoid

Many thanks.

    hi
we stayed at the Mill Hotel (3 star i think) back in 2003. its on the canal and the hotel has its own boat which does a dinner trip, not much to see mind. also pool/jacuzzi/suana and gym. its got a bar with real ale and good snacks. the hotel was just outside the city a 5 minute walk. we went to a boat museum at Elsmer port and a city tour. chester is ok for a few days, hope this helps.

    Have a look here.

Theres also Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet if you like shopping.

Not sure about hotels but someone will!

Theres not many places to avoid, its a popular tourist area and nice just to walk round and enjoy. Hopefully the weather will be good for you and you can chill by the river with icecreams!

    Have fun.

Chester, my 2nd love!!! I'm born and bred Chester but now live in the Midlands and miss it lots (even though i'm back every weekend!!!)

Mill Hotel is nice, there is a Holiday Inn Express down by the race course, loads of friendly little B&B's on Hoole road (about 15mins walk into town) if you want something a bit cheaper. The Grosvenor is right in the centre if you can afford it and if you are posh enough!

Loads of other B&B's and guest houses around.

As long as you stay in the city centre then there is nowhere to avoid really!

If you need any more help, give me a shout!
