advice needed on halifax charges

hi im new here so i hope i make sense. i was given back some bank charges the bank(halifax) took from me over the weekend about £170 these charges where from dec so they went in from then. i have since incurred loads of charges because of this as im a single mum on benefits and found it hard to put the money back.well now when i check my account ive only been overdrawn once since then, all im asking is can i now claim back all the others they have given me since then about £800 worth.

thanks for that i will be looking into it but before dec when i was put into overdraft i only ever had 1 charge, as a single parent on benefits i know i have to be careful.
it all started when the water board took out £200 instead of £20 and although they reimbursed me straight away, by then i had £169 worth of charges in the first week,
i only get £160 a week paid in so as well as everything else that came out i could never catch up.
so last week halifax admitted it was their error for taking the charges, because when they checked my account the overdraft was normal, it didnt show up any overdraws because offically i wasnt overdrawn and reimbursed the £169 charges,which they put back in in dec although it was officially this weekend woo hoo fantastic and when i checked my new statement i am now and for the last 6 months in credit never overdrawn but they have still took all the other charges out (over £500 just in the last few mths) of an account not officially overdrawn.can i claim them back now has they have been taken in "error" as i wasnt overdrawn

Can you clarify something, the original amount was £169.00 in charges that they stated that they should not have taken out of your account so refunded, yet it is these charges themselves that caused the other charges?
You got this £169.00 bank error in writing?

nothing in writing at all and yes from them charges i have incurred more charges has i couldnt pay them off as i said the first week they took the £169 out but i only had £160 go in but i then incurred more that week because i didnt have the funds in the bank to cover my normal dd's that came out as in my rent, my electric gas and so forth plus the charges they had given me so the ball keeps rolling they take i pay they take i pay meanwhile im getting deeper into debt. hope it makes sense

So have you got a refund of £169 on the account?
You have two choices on this one:
a) you write to them and make them aware that you were told verbally on x date that the charges should not have been levied and were refunded, however, the consequence of the charges are the charges of y amount. Ask them to refund this as it is part of the same error.
or
b) SAR to them specifically on the phone call which you have a date for ie on or around the date you were refunded(might be worth asking for a transcript of the call) plus any notes about the refund. It will cost you £10 but you then have written concrete evidence rather than necessarily you having to argue the consequences without evidence in black and white in your hands.

Either option is your choice.

thankyou so much i will do number 2 i think i hate not having it in black and white and im sure even though you can see it in my account ive not gone overdrawn they will find something.:T
