Do you have accidental damage option for contents?
When you say quite expensive, how much are we talking?
The reason I ask is that you will have an excess plus your premiums could rise for 3 years, so you have to consider that.
I would check out a replace price first before you aceept any offer.
Insurers like to give you vouchers (because they get big discounts for bulk from people like Comet/Dixons).0 -
You should be able to claim if you have AD on your insurance policy.
I had to claim in May as my laptop screen had cracked, our insurance company Zurich arranged for it to be sent to powerplay (I think they have changed there name now)and they declared it beyond economical repair. We where then offered a similar spec laptop and once we had paid our £50.00 excess & a further £25.00 for the return of the hard-drive they sent it to us.We never had the option to receive vouchers or a cash settlement which would have been preferred as we would have rather bought 2 cheaper laptops for the same cost as the 1 replacement.

I claimed on my house insurance when my son knocked a pint of water over the laptop! I had to take it to local repairer and get a letter saying it was not repairable, and they sent me the cheque for the amount he valued it at. They were excellent. I also havn't really noticed much of an increase in premiums either.0
