Hi all,
Do I need to worry?
I loaded up ZoneAlarm & AVG from a cover disc on Tuesday, downloaded updates for both, then Windows updates after that as well, all via dial-up! ( A long night )
I was on the internet last night and checked the Zonealarm display, at the top the internet padlock was open and the mozilla icon ( default browser) was blinking.
Hovered the mouse over it and it said it was listening to Port 1413.
As I don't know what that was I disconnected straight away but by this time I was online for about an hour, does this mean something has gained access to inside the pc?
And should the ZoneAlarm padlock always be locked whilst on the net?
Thanks for your help

Open Zone Alarm and click on Help where it is all explained. There is also a Flash tutorial. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

The open padlock means that your connected to the Internet (traffic can flow in/out), closing it means that you won't be able to access the Internet (telling your firewall, you want to block access to the net) so traffic cannot go in or out.
I tried to do a search to find a simple explantation for your port but couldn't fine one, even though there are so many results for your port (I guess there many not be a spexific response for any port as programs may use different ports any time. Here are 2 examples as you have not said whether it is TCP or UDP.0
