Car boot sales - how much do you make?

I did a car boot sale today and I made £35, but compared to what I used to get £35 is a terrible result. I used to regularly pull in over £100 (5 years ago), and on one occasion £350, but of late I've tried many car boot sales at different locations and just haven't been able to make very much at all. I think my best over the past 2 years has been £70.

I'm just curious really to see what people are able to make in different areas, what's a good/bad amount for you or if you've noticed any drop yourself.

Did one at Bexhill, East Sussex and made about 50 profit, for not a very full car.

The last one I did (which also happened to be the first) I made a whopping £10. I think this was mostly down to my stall being placed outside the actual boot sale and in the place where the queue and entrance was, resulting in about 99% of people just walking straight past without even looking  I'm doing another one on Sunday which I hope will be a bit more successful!
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

The last car boot i did three weeks ago I made £140. whopee! It was stuff like lego, and make up and perfume that I had collected over the years also paper back books and hard backs. The books I sold at 50p for two paperbacks and hard backs at 50p it was like a rugby scrum. The lego I charged £40 for so it was a large part but there was a big box of it all unsorted which I know would have made more on ebay but I don't have the time or the energy to sort it.

Everything else was 50p or £1 regardless of what it was worth and I went home with only one small box. I think now that if you don't want it sell it cheap and get rid. If it may be worth more try it on ebay first if id doesn't sell car boot it and get rid. only my opinion though!

Yeah, I agree seashore321, I usually give anything worth a shot on ebay one listing, if it doesn't sell it gets put in the next box for car boot..I have only done a handful over the years, went a few weeks ago and sold mainly DVDs and clothes, also a sony stereo, and we made about £50 after the charge for the pitch. Then again, last summer, we only made £10 from one altogether, which after the pitch price meant we went home with most of our junk and a £2 profit. I think it depends on the weather, and what time you get there as to the position you get to set up in..Also obviously on the items you are selling.
