  • Can anyone report on how good these actually are?
It would appear to be between the Tassimo and the Senseo but the Tassimo is obviously a lot more money.

I have a Taasimo but cant comment on the Senseo. Tassimo is ok but you might be best reading the reviews HERE at amazon for Senseo- I would say for this price it is ok. I got the tassimo mainly because it does tea and hot chocolate .However I am a huge coffee fan and find the tassimo coffee stinks ! you can adjust the strength maunally but I was disappointed at the taste.

I had a senseo for ages and was never really happy with it. You need to use two pods to make a mug of coffee, so it works out about 22p per mug. The coffee isnt that great either.....

I would recommend a cafetiere all day every day.....I gave my senseo away the day I bought a decent cafetiere. ;)
if i had known then what i know now

I love my coffee and have always had some kind of coffee machine. I have had the Senseo a few months now and find it is very good. I don't drink coffee by the mug, we use cups and for this the senseo is fine.

There are some very bad tasting pods out there (lusty lime urgh!!) but there are also some very good ones (nescafe do a great cappucino).

See ebay for some of the better flavours as to what the supermarkets currently stock.

I use the Senseo pods in my espresso machine. (cookworks £14.99 @ argos at the mo.) and one pod makes a large cup of very nice coffee................. I just have the one big cafine fix first thing in the morning. and drink instant decafe the rest of the day. I am very tempted to buy the comet offer tho ................. seems a very good deal! Its just a shame its BLUE?

We discovered a trick to make a better cup of senseo coffee - using a mug or large cup, plus two pods in the double pod holder, BUT, instead of pressing the '2' cups button, press the '1' cup button twice - that way the pads get soaked in the hot water for the first shot, which releases more flavour so that when you press the button a second time, a stronger brew comes out.

I have a senseo machine and cannot fault it. Maybe you used a bad or weak blend of coffee? I use the kenko brand ones mostly and the high strength ones make a decent mug (using only 1 pod). Really nice creamy layer means that you can drink it without milk if you have to, and not really notice the lack of milk too much.
The whole point i think of these pod machines is that you dont have the "fuss" of making coffee in a cafetiere and cleaning it afterwards.

I have always been a coffee lover, its my only vice. I have had numerous coffee machines but have alwys gone back to the senseo every time. I would never touch the decaf but after I tasted it one day I wil never go back to the normal coffee. the decaf tates the best.
