I take it you mean USB ports
what make / model Laptop is it ??
you may be able to ues a router modem and connect by using a lan cable to the lan (RJ45) portEx forum ambassador

Hi THANKS so much!! I did mean usb - I am totally out of my depth with computers! However i am going to try your advice- i might be able to do it!! my laptop is a toshiba which is 2 years old- would i be able to have the ports fixed (i sometimes download photos)??
thanks again, youve been really helpful x0 -
You can buy a USB PCMCIA card which will fit in your laptop. the laptop being 2 years old people dont upgrade laptops as often as a desktop so it has a few years left in it and not having USB could be dificult so this would be another solution and pretty cheap. this will also let you to continue using your existng usb modem. configuring a wireless router isnt dificult but you say your not good with computers then this could be a simpler solution
something like this
