Ive damaged my dsl ports in the back of my laptop-help!!

Hi both the dsl ports in the back of my laptop have been damaged by my lovely daughter- now they will not work!!

i just wondered if i could replace the dsl ports or do i need to buy a new computer?

or, can you use broadband without a dsl port?

as you can tell i am not technical at all!!

    I take it you mean USB ports

    what make / model Laptop is it ??

    you may be able to ues a router modem and connect by using a lan cable to the lan (RJ45) port

    Hi THANKS so much!! I did mean usb - I am totally out of my depth with computers! However i am going to try your advice- i might be able to do it!! my laptop is a toshiba which is 2 years old- would i be able to have the ports fixed (i sometimes download photos)??

    You can buy a USB PCMCIA card which will fit in your laptop. the laptop being 2 years old people dont upgrade laptops as often as a desktop so it has a few years left in it and not having USB could be dificult so this would be another solution and pretty cheap. this will also let you to continue using your existng usb modem. configuring a wireless router isnt dificult but you say your not good with computers then this could be a simpler solution
