my old lab has poorly ear ??

ive noticed this evening that my ten year old lad x rottweiller didnt want me touching her left ear.when i looked closer the outside of her ear (the triangle part from the tip downwards)is so swollen and puffy(not hard but kind of soft puffy) and feels like its full of fluid.the ear is droopy-alot more than the other one.
i dont know whats happened to her.could it be a bite or sting?
she seems ok apart from this but if it is no better in the morning i will ring vets first thhas this happened to anyone elses dog?thanks for reading.

  • sounds like one of those things where they pop a blood vesel and blood collects in the ear - cant remember the name offhand - it needs to be seen by a vet ASAP, it will be painful.

Sounds like a haematoma (sp?) and it can be very painful for the dog.

The vet will probably drain it. If left untreated the ear flap will probably shrivel, become very hard and look like a "cauliflower ear".

I would get her to the vet as soon as possible.

    Hope this helps :D.

well she has been to the vets this morning and guys, you should have been vets lol:T
she had a haematoma!! the vet drained it and filled it with a load of steroids.he said it may come back back if it comes back more than another 2 times they will operate and stitch it .
it is normally associated with an ear infection, sometimes the opposite ear,but her ears were fine so he thinks its caused by some kind of allergy.
it was also mentioned about her poo munching (yep this is the lab that i previously posted about lol:rolleyes:).he said its nothing to worry about and that i dont need to change her food or anything and that she definitely doesnt look hungry.
im just so glad that shes ok and that she came back home with me.thanks for your replies and help.x
