Had a quote of £2000 for the following, is this fair?
Front door, glazing top and bottom
One window approx 600(w) x 1200 (h)mm small opening window
One window approx 1800(w) 2100(h)mm with two small opening windows at the top.
All in their higher quality UPVC
Thanks

they quoted us £2000 for our front bay window - which comes down to £1500 if we have it done quickly!
My sis had them in her last home - said the after care was good - the minute there were some problems with cracks/settling they were round!
Oh and I agreed - we'd rather use a local firm with a good reputation - I want great care in installation - this avoids having to have good aftercare!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Thanks, good to know service was good for your sister, anyone else got an opinion on the cost?0

Google 'Safestyle forum' and get some opinions of the company before you sign on the dotted line.

To get an idea of the materials cost why not put all your details and sizes here:
http://www.windowsanddoors.co.uk/estimate/
Then you'll have a rough idea of the labour charge and can make your own decision.
You can't always assume that the big companies are worse. I had mine done by a local 'family firm' and they did a shocking job. My neighbour used a national company and they did a great job.0 -
my local installer did me 2 bay windows for 1500 quid.
or 1100 quid supply only.Get some gorm.0 -
I used a small local firm and general prices were £500 to £600 for a door, fitted. £200 to £350 per window, fitted, depending on size.
I suspect you could shave £700 to £900 off that price myself.
As for high quality, I would put that down to sales patter, as I doubt it's any better than anyone else's.0 -
Thanks for replies, getting our second quote tomorrow. It's just good to know if this is a realistic benchmark for the next quote or if I should be expecting a lower one!
I agree with a lot of what they say is sales talk - I'm an industrial designer and found a lot of it quite funny! I don't believe for one second that the plastic is any different all they'd done is polish the more expensive model!
But assuming they do fill it with argon, this is a definite plus point which from the website our next company don't do. I'll have to ask them when they come round.0 -
is 50p worth of argon worth twice the price of local installer DG windows?Get some gorm.0
