El Gouna hotel recommendations - Egypt

Hi guys,

Fallen in love with El Gouna from the website and spotted a few of the regulars on here have been (or own!) to places there.

Was looking to go All Inclusive and package deals weren't coming up within our price range (£1000 ish) so have found flights for £500 and now need to settle on a hotel. Dates are fixed on 30th Oct - 6th Nov.

The two nicer ones that we've found are the two Three Corners resorts (Ocean View and Rihana) - is one particularly nicer than the other? Ocean View (£100 more) looks more away from downtown and near the marina but from reviews sounds marginally nicer than the Rihana, which is close to downtown and near a bay (with a beach?) but is available AI for £435 for the two of us.

<Edit - just spotted the £435 was for the Inn rather than the Resort> However, can get the resort for £475>

An alternative might be to get a villa privately (from £200/week) but then we'd lose the convenience of being in a resort and probably would spend more than £235 on food drink for the week....

Argh!!

I was looking at hotels in Sharm earlier this week but just changed my mind to El Gouma after seeing all the glowing reviews!
We're both under 30, will be leaving the little boy with my parents so we're deffo looking for a bit of relaxing time for a change!

Any advice very welcome :)

we love el gouna and always go to the three corners rihanna... hving seen the ocean view personally i much prefer the rihanna

the rihanna has 3 pools and a lagoon area and is nicely situated to enable u to walk to the downtown and tamr henna areas where there are some shops and restaurants etc.... ocean view only has 1 pool and a small beach area tho there are beaches near it, u can walk round the marina but i didnt find that as interesting

if u book in the inn part of the rihanna and then send them an email and ask to be put near the sunset bar u will get a resort room but to be honest u still use all the same pools and restaurants and the only difference is that the resort rooms are bigger and a bit nicer

i looked and found it cheaper to book as a package rather than flights then the hotel so check again

if u have any more questions do ask

We stayed at Sheraton Miramar on B & B, there are lots of lovely places to eat out in Downtown and the Marina area.

I agree - I went on a b&b basis, lots of places to eat including traditional english curries, chinese, and Pizza (as well as burgers and chips etc) :)

Thanks for the responses, keep them coming!

Shykins, good to hear from someone who's been :) Is it far between the hotels? I heard that Ocean View do a shuttle bus that takes 5-10mins to get to the beach - 10 mins on a bus could be quite a distance, is El Gouna bigger than I thought?!

I was attracted to Ocean View as it does sound a lot more luxurious (nicer gym, no kids club, near nice eatery (Peanuts?) but I can deffo see the advantages of being closer to town, and to be honest I'm not that fussed by a load of expensive boats!

I found Rihana Inn for less than £400, (£504 on hotel website) but the discount on the ocean view seemed more attractive (£514 on alpharooms £665 on hotel website)

Do you recall where you booked your package from, the places I've found have been about £2-300 more expensive, even hotel+flights deals don't come close to booking it separately!

Thanks again for your input, I'm such an indecisive Cancarian!

there is a some beach about 5mins walk from ocean view and rihana has a lagoon with sand ... they both run a shuttle bus to their own private beach further along the coastline which also stops at the 2 hotels i would say its about a10min drive between them, u can also get the tok tok for around £1

having looked at the ocean view i dont see it as more luxurious but of course thats just my opinion, yes it has a gym (which i havent seen) and yes rihanna has a kids club but its over near the lagoon and i didnt see gangs of kids there, course i guess if u went in school holidays that would be different....peanuts is usually the name of the bars at three corners hotels

i was looking at the week u mentioned a fortnight ago and was getting around £600 all in for rihana from directholidays... just tried to check but their site is playing up sorry,

lol btw i am a cancerian too and know what u mean!!
ask away if u want more or pm me if its easier
