Oh hun.. I am gutted on your behalf!!!
Something will turn up.. life has a way of throwing these huge challenges at us to test us but there is always something better on the horizon to make up for everything now.
When you get home.. you can apply for most benefits online.. do that straight away and it gets backdated.. everything else can wait until Monday when you can get further advise.
The government will pay redundancy money so you should get something there but it will take time. You may get something from the sale of the business if you are lucky. And, you never know someone might buy it out and give you your jobback... then you can look for a more secure one!
This is a stepping stone to a new chapter in your life.. embrace it!!
((((((hugs))))))

Really really gutted for you Jo, I think you and the rest of the workforce have been treated absolutely apallingly, why on earth could they not have had the decency to tell you this morning so you didn't have to stay there all day stewing.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Oh Jo, I'm so very, very sorry.
ditto that hun - I would be round with wine and chocolate were I close by.
As has been said there will be statutory redindancy but it will take time. In the meantime hit the redundancy thread for advice...
and PLEASE remember it's NOT personal...
on a flying note DD and I have been into school (ooh we signed in but we didn't sign out LOL) and done tidying - the paint is all sorted with dreg decanted into one bottle (and shaken vigorously to mix as we weren't too fussy about shades.) she and the young whippersnapper who has tried my patience sorely all year have sorted and dusted the bookshelves - he loves helping/working but not, apparently, doing any work in any books:rolleyes: New wipers are cut for the little whitebaords and whiteboard pens tested and duds discarded.
And I was given a beautiful bouquet which was to have been a congratulations/commiserations gift as appropriate (I knew they were plotting LOL) So the speech was along the lines of I am pleased I am staying because I am among friends ... I have some super colleagues and it would have been a wrench to leave them.
And now I am home - flowers are in vases (I had some from a girl in my class, too) and I must get on.
HHC anyone?
Just out of interest someone has posted on the redundancy thread that the company his wife works for (she's on Mat leave at the moment) has gone into administration and no-one has been paid this month...small forum isn't it? Might be worth keeping an eye on this oneJo
This link will take you to the Directgov pages you need, Jo

Just back before the hail storm of all hail storms, poor mogs didn't have a clue what was happening!
Jo - hoping you find a fantastic job really soon and good luck with the benefits.
Oh no I smell drains! The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
