Letters to send to credit companies

Hi
My father in law had just been made medically retired, and my mother in law wants to send letters to their credit card companies asking them to take a reduced payment until they have their finances sorted out.
I thought that there was template letters on the MSE site that she could use but cant seem to find them.
Any help please
