I keep repeating to all, avoid the Abbey at all costs, penalties permitting that is!
Alliance and Leicester are now part of Abbey so avoid them too.

Funny the OP mentioning N Rock - I find them far more efficient than Abbey. C & G are reasonably ok as long as you avoid getting stuck in thier underwriting / perpetual faxing loop. No point using Halifax as C & G now oversee them - we've had a Halifax case pulled out for scrutiny by C & G's underwriting unit in Kent!

RBS (inc N West) also avoid - common sense really that you don't go to the lender with the biggest loss in UK corporate history and expect any favours / flexibility. I sometimes wonder if people watch the news.

Come to think of it, they're all pretty bad!!!!

Conrad - Yes i agree with you NR were fab, no complaints with them what so ever. infact when they drop their ridiculous rates a little, i will go straight back to them, purely for the customer service and flexi mortgage they offered before, paying extra off my mortgage was so easy with them.

Our solicitor has just phoned to say she has had our mortgage offer this morning :j:jI'm amazed, not sure if saying I was having their home insurance has helped at all, but from doing the application to getting the mortgage offer its been about 3 weeks, so not too bad.
They have put the wrong purchase price  on the offer, but they are just going to change it and send out a new one within 24hours.

I really hope that get yours sorted asap Lotte.

    Strange thing happened,
shAbbey (or was it really Prudential?) called us within 2 days of paying in a biggish cheque trying to flog us investments, the paperwork (which went in the bin) followed within 48 hours (to France!). Have since asked for paperwork to close the shAbbey account, and here's the REALLY strange thing, so far it's taken nearly two weeks and still not arrived. Isn't that strange !!!!!!!!!!!!! Touch, bargepole, don't.

right well i have now had it with Abbey! Phoned up for the redemption figure..........£4560!!! and phoned a frien of mine who works for the company i used to work for which is a mortgage & pensions company, and reaplied with RBS!!! as far as i am concerned Abbey can sticktheir morgage and there B&C up their back sides! usless does not even come close! I am hoping my advisor can pull this off quickly as my buyers ready and waiting to exchange! yes its gonna cost me, but after the deal is done, is there anyway i can right a letter of complaint to Abbey, as the customer service is dreadfull, i have dates times nd names of those i spoke to, and also, i wouldnt have to pay the redemption or move my mortgage if they could have sorted this out! I feel i am being cornered to do this, so if anyone knows how please let me know.
    AND YES DONT TOUCH SHABBEY!
