Credit card handling charge 2.19% Is there a way around this?

I am new to the forum so this might have been discussed previously.

I am due to pay £3400.00 balance soon to a holiday company for my New Zealand trip. They charge 2.19% for credit card payments, other forms of payment have no charge, why is this? is there any disadvantage for me paying by debit card or cheque ?
They accepted the credit card deposit of £200 without a handling charge.

It costs them more to process payment by credit card than it does by debit card, the former being percentage based and the latter being a flat charge.

No disadvantage. You are already protected by section 75 of the CCA because you've paid a deposit by credit card.
