More Natwest Charges..

Hi All,
I am a little miffed to say the least, I have spent the day going thoroughly through my bank statements sent to me by Natwest and what I have found has completely left me gobsmacked?!?!?
I have previously made a claim for bank charges to the tune of £3,500 which I successfully claimed back in 2004/5 based on the statements I had at home available to me- unfortunately, I did not see a penny of this as I was bullied into applying it to my closed account. But after checking these statements again, I can't believe what I am seeing??...
I have stopped using the account and the the interest I was being charged was ridiculous, bearing in mind I was on a debt management program and all payments were going through that program, I was still being charged £102 a month in interest & charges, not only that but I am finding little payments here and there to ' Natwest' and then money being transferred with no information/acount no. as to where they are being transferred to, cheque payments which are daily, some bounced even though there is an agreed overdraft in place then a fee applied and then further down underneath that, the cheque is cleared?????
All the largest charges are all since my last claim in 2004/5.
I will be totalling up and whole amount very shortly, but I want to ask a question, which I cannot seem to find the answer to... If you have been offered charges back in F & F settlement, can you then claim again?... Obviously, I did not go to court previously and this was well before the court case.
Can I still claim?
Also to top this off, I am now in serious Financial Hardship...
Could do with some advice here please.
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
Just totalled all charges, interest and suspect charges applied; total comes to approx £4,000!
So I preivously claimed back £3,000 and currently have a ppi offer for £3,000 and now this?.. all from the one account?.... I think I have almost paid off my loan- don't you??!!!
This is outrageous.

Majority of the calculation is, if I omit those dubious charges to my account there is still at least 2,5k there.Chicqa.. On a mission, brace yourself....0 -
I am really interested in this. I have got horrendous charges from Natwest and want to know how and if I can reclaim these. I am about to start the process of requesting my charges back and want to know if these should be included at the same time. Any advise would be very much appreciated. If I need to go to another forum please redirect me. I have to say Natwest have been total ******** to us and we are going to court soon to find out if they are going to be able to place a charge against our house for a loan that is less than £5000. I was also slammed with a CCj earlier in the year for this debt, so this debt is being paid as required so feel really quite kicked by Natwest. And we are in a DMP and other creditors up to now have been really quite good....0

I am in a similar position to you, I recieve copy statements, from them when I sent my SAR and one sheet alone had £1800+ worth of charges!!..
They are complete crooks!!.. I'll never use them again!!
I also just gave the Ombudsman a quick call to find out if I could still make further claims, even though I reluctantly 'accepted' a 'Full & Final'... I explained that I never recieved payment, it was applied to the closed account and that I had spoken to Natwest prior and I had also spoken to them as I was so reluctant to accept this offer. They said they could possibly look at the case but obviously while the case in hold nothing can be done yet. when you put your claim in include you charges and the interest, I found interest charges on my statements up to £40!!! (!!!!!!?!?!)
Best Of Luck.. Keep us updated

To clarify the position you can claim any charges applied after a full and final settlement, if any amount is still outstanding then the bank can apply the charges to the account prior to any funds being given back to you since the refund covers charges taken so they would still be owed if they refund you and not the account.
If you had a legitimate overdraft facility then some of the interest charged is money that was spent by you using that facility so is not your to claim since it was legitimately spent by you. I hope that makes sense,0 -

That is your opinion, but I think I will wait to see what the FO say, the charges applied to my account were there because I was not using the account actually, I had transferred everything to another bank. The account was not in use, there were no transactions whatsoever. I don't know the in's & outs of how Natwest operate but my statements are very dubious towards my transfer and to be completely frank, I'm not entirely sure I trust your opinion to be completely unbiased. Sorry but I have to be honest.

That is your opinion,
with regards to a full and final settlement being applied to the account where the charges have come from, it is the opinion of the FOS because I spoke to an ombudsman a few months ago in light of the fact that many banks were refunding to themselves and the claimant was getting nothing. From that conversation I had a good dialogue with them and got a good understanding of financial hardship claims.
but I think I will wait to see what the FO say, the charges applied to my account were there because I was not using the account actually, I had transferred everything to another bank.
look, if you have accepted a full and final settlement then I cannot see the FOS going against that decision but it is your choice if you wish to pursue that line.

I do know the ins and outs of how NatWest works which I made sure I learnt when I worked for them and was regularly on bank charges forums which I spend a lifetime on. If you don't trust my advice then so be it and I will wait for the FOS before I post further. Believe me I have no allegiances to NatWest.
Sorry but I have to be honest.
Thanks
Well let's wait for the FOS but even I would be surprised if they disagreed with the advice given and the post here.0 -

That's fine... They did explain about the Financial Hardship and that it is not always straightforward, the bank is not obliged to pay out on those cases.
Thanks anyway for your response.Chicqa.. On a mission, brace yourself....0
