Does the daughter know her father has died?

Sorry OP - we are all thinking practicaly on here - where as you and your partner's parents, are probably thinking emotionally and naturally so.
I apologise in advance if you think we are being insensitive. He was so young... you don't think of making a will when you are of that age.Genie

i understand all this , but we have no idea where the daughter and his ex are we have not heard or seen of them in a year and a half , and as he has no wealth to speak of apart from contents of his home and a car that is 12 years old we are just trying to make the best of the situation that has happened, i appreciate all the responses though thank you very much guess it would be easier just to scrape the car! we just were trying to make the best of a very bad situation0

yes she does know he has died as flowers were sent to the funeral but they have not contacted us with any address or telephone number and we are unsure how they heard of the terrible news, i guess they just want to be left alone is my conclusion as they had parted on bad terms0

Families....... hard to deal with.
Even if you decide to scrap it - the V5 (log book) has to be produced. I'm not making it any easier for you am I? Sorry. I do think you could do with some legal advice and wonder if there is a better forum on here to deal with this for you?
I'll have a nose round....Genie

Don't lose heart - someone may come up with something shortly. We all try and help each other on this site. Keep an eye on the thread. And look at other forums too - health and beauty for instance, sounds inappropriate, but if you are feeling stressed or unwell etc - its a great forum to 'unload' on.Genie

I am sorry for your loss - and, believe me, I am just as sorry to be posting this:
Your partners possessions are not yours or his parents to dispose of. They are his daughters - despite the strained relations and lack of contact.
You should not dispose of her possessions without first referring to her.
I'm afraid your have more work on your hands - you need to try to find your partners daughter.
If this is impossible, you should place place an advert in the London Gazette (google it to find out how) and a paper in the area where you think she might be residing (have you any idea which florist send the flowers from her?), asking her to contact you by a certain date - say 3 months.
If she does not contact you within that time period, you can then dispose of her property - but you should retain any proceeds of sale in case she comes out of the woodwork in the future.
