in Credit cards
Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section.
I am writing this on behalf of my Grandmother. The other day she contacted Lloyds TSB (with whom she holds a bank account, has done for over 15 years now), as she wanted to get a small short-term loan to pay for some work that had been done on the house. Lloyds ran a credit check and informed her that no she could not have a loan because she had some bad credit. When she asked what it was exactly that caused this, they said that they couldn't say what it was except that it was not in her name, but was at her address. This has baffled all of us because she has been at the same address for just over 50 years, has always paid her bills, credit cards, etc on time.
The bank advised her to contact experian regarding the matter and to get this bad credit taken off; but they did not advise her how exactly to get it taken off. They said once this had been done they are more than willing to give her a loan.
So we went to the experian website and did the credit check thing, and everything looked fine. We couldnt see anything else at her address that would be causing this bad credit, so now we're really stumped! Also couldn't find out how to go about getting this bad credit thing removed, or how long it will take.
Is there anyone on here that has had the same/similar problems?
Please help and thanks in advance!!!!

you could use this link to ask for advice on Experian
http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/askjames.html
If nothing has been found in the credit report, you could send a copy to the bank explaining that nothing was found and put in an appeal against their decision not to lend.
Alternately,a better way would be for family to lend the money.Saves the hassle of having to deal with banks.0 -
Sorry to ask but how old is she?0

Perhaps your gandmother should write to experian and ask them to explain why they gave Lloyds someone else's information when they requested hers0

Perhaps Lloyds just don't want to lend. Have you tried elsewhere?"Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for."

Individuals are assessed not addresses. Ask Lloyds to confirm their decision and reason in writing."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -

The reason she is trying to get a loan is because I am the only family she has and I don;t have the money to lend her myself. If I did, I would
Very odd indeed that woman on phone said was because of the address thing that she got bad credit, if they do assess individually! Will definately be writing to the bank and asking lots of questions now, very very odd.
Thanks all for advice so far.Wins 2013: Stella Cidre Chalice, Pack of Berol fabric pens, Comfort Umbrella, £50 cash, Warburtons brad and picnic hamper :j0
