Suggestion for sub board

Most of the regular posters who post on the benefits board work for the DWP, LA, CAB etc etc and have a wealth of knowledge. I rarely come on this board and only ventured here because dmg was a bit peeved off when you are saying that there are no real experts on the benefits board that can help with disabilities queries, which is simply not true.0

In addition to the above comments, I'd have to add that there are so many benefits, and so many elements to them that don't really relate directly to disability, that any post on a "disability benefits only board" (DBB) would need to be duplicated on the general benefits board (GBB) to get decent full advice.
DLA, CA, RP, IS, ESA (old IB), CTB, HB, War Pensions, JSA(ib) & (c), IIB, IIDB and countless other benefits are all out there and have so many strands that may or may not be affected by disability issues that it would:-
1. Lead to people with disability issues missing out if a DBB existed and;
2. Lead to posts on the DBB being missed by others when the issue may have helped them too.
The only solution would be to duplicate each post and answer on both boards.
Having said all that, the sepcifics of disability benefits - e.g how much a disability may affect people and what impact that may have, is propbably more appropriate for here that the GBB, whereas the GBB is more for the financial imapct and inter-relationship between different benefits?0 -
Why don't they simply put up a link to the benefits board to redirect people from here to there?0

I certainly didn't mean to imply that there are no real experts on the Benefits board. (I don't always express myself clearly....numbers make much more sense than words to me!)
I was trying to point out that here on the Disability Board, there is a lot of understanding for the way that your disability affects your ability to claim benefit and the way you cope with benefits being refused/withdrawn.
The issues that I personally have (I have Asperger's, Dyspraxia and Dyslexia) impact heavily on my claiming my entitlements. The problems I am having with claiming benefit are indivisible from my disability, so it makes sense to keep the Disability Benefit and Disability Boards linked (or kept as one Board as they are).
Apologies if I was perceived as criticising the Benefits Board in any way. ( I am fairly new to MSE, but think it and the people who administer the site, are amazing...as are the people who visit it!). It's more that I value the Disability and Dosh Board, and appreciate the help/support I'm being given here!0 -

As stated by several people, they are not currently one board. Benefits queries should be placed on the Benefits board!
Please feel free to post any benefits queries on the Benefits board, or even just have a look at previous threads relating to your condition. You will be pleasantly surprised at the help you will receive!Gone ... or have I?0 -

If I see someone post questions about benefits generally with disability as a side issue I would normally send the thread over to the main benefits board myself. I should send over threads about any sort of benefit but tend to leave posts about benefits specifcally related to disability here, although the main team may not agree that is what I should be doing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
