Hi can I have 2 ipods running off 1 itunes on my pc?
I have a nano and my GF a mini we dont want the same music on our ipods we want to have our own library's.
Is this possible or do we install another itunes so we have one for each?
Thanks,
Pete.

No, it should just work, I have one and so does my wife. It detects which ever one is connected. Just make your own playlists.0

Same as doonhammer - my ipod, son's ipod, entirely different playlists (thank goodness).0

As above posters have mentioned, this is easily done. iTunes recognises individual iPods, so all you need to do is go into Edit > Preferences > iPod and select which playlist(s) you want the individual iPod to update from.

Still having real problems sussing this out. All our songs have got mixed up somehow. When I plug my GF's ipod in it comes up "Karen's ipod" then updates all my play lists and podcasts onto her ipod and visaversa when I plug my ipod in, i end up getting Westlife and Shane Ward, Hardly Pink Floyd and Oasis are they!

Hi Pete,
iTunes should recognise the individual settings for each iPod. Next time you plug each one in, make sure that iTunes is correctly labelling the iPod as the correct person's and that the preferences are set to update from the correct playlists.
Good luck!0 -
Pete,
I run my GF's ipod and mine through one instance of iTunes. However, you WILL trash what is on either of the iPods unless you change the settings to MANUALY update the iPods. You only have to do this once, and I can't check where it is cos I'm at work. It is in the options somewhere and is pretty obvious. Once you have done this the iPod playlists will not syncronise with iTunes automatically. This means you will have to select "Karens Ipod" from the list and then select songs to delete, or drag and drop songs to add.
Hope this helps.0 -
Avidreader is right, see my 1st post in this thread for how to do this.

Bloody hell think it's probably me being thick but still not sorted but we are making progress.
I've got my GF'S Ipod recognised with her own playlists but I cant seem to update some new songs i've added to itunes, they are in the 2nd list on the left hand side under "recently added" but there is no update tab. The only one I can find is under file but thats faded out.
Help someone plz it's begining to do me head in now !I'll get me coat!0 -
If your going to have problems then it might be best for you to have two seperate Itunes - and you might find it easier to manage.
Does your computer have just one Windows User Account?
If your computer has another Windows user account, or you are willing to set one up, then you can use the the second Itunes account from the desktop you use right now.0
